Job Description
North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, Montana, is seeking a highly skilled payroll specialist with computerized payroll processing and automatic time & attendance system management experience to process bi-weekly payroll for 430 plus employees.
This position is full-time, 80 hrs/pp, to work Monday through Friday, 8a to 4:30p; however, schedule may vary as needed. It requires working before and after regular business hours and occasional weekends as needed based on departmental/organizational needs. Be aware that schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and departmental needs.
Position Summary : The Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing all payroll related functions of the organization. Payroll Specialist duties include, but are not limited to, assuring timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll, including accuracy of statutory withholdings, voluntary deductions and arranging direct deposits; monitoring accuracy of data submitted, complying with federal, state and local legal requirements related to payroll. This position participates in updates and conversions in API time and attendance software and Paragon payroll software validates and creates reports for audit and budgeting processes, and responds to inquiries as requested, and other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
Requires : High School Diploma or GED; 3 to 5 years of work directly related to this position, such as experience in payroll processing for complex, medium to large employer, including all requisite governmental reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Word and other office software. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills. Must exhibit the ability to work independently, problem solve and set priorities. Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of profession-related decision making and judgment. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality regarding patients, employees, business records and other work-related activities. Additionally, must have current Montana Drivers' License; driving record will be reviewed through background check.

Desire : Experience in hospital automated time and attendance and payroll system management or operations. Experience with API time and attendance system and McKesson Paragon hospital payroll software. Accounting training, or experience, with the level of knowledge commensurate with an Associate Degree in Business/Accounting.
